كما قامت تلك المؤسسات أيضاً بتنفيذ العديد من الورش التدريبية لسد حاجة المعلمين الماسة لأساسيات هذا المجال لا سيما عملية تصميم أو بناء إختبارات التحصيل المقننة التي يجهلها بعض المعلمين والإحتفاظ بنماذج من الأسئلة ذات المستوى الجيد من حيث معامل الصعوبة ومعامل التمييز، علماً بأن الكثير من مدارس الدول المتقدمة وبعض مدارس الدول العربية أصبحت تهتم بإيجاد ما يسمى ببنك الأسئلة.
ولم يقتصر إهتمام الباحثين والمؤسسات التربوية على مجال القياس فقط، بل أن التقويم أيضاً أخذ نصيباً كبيراً من ذلك الإهتمام، ولم يعد التقويم في أضيق حالاته عندما كان يقتصر على تقويم تحصيل الطالب، بل امتد إلى تقويم الخطط التعليمية وتقويم المدارس (ذاتياً وخارجياً) وتقويم البرامج والمؤسسات التربوية الأخرى من خلال جمع بيانات عن آدائها وتحديد نقاط القوة والضعف فيها ومن ثم وضع خطط التطوير.
وإنطلاقاً مما تقدم يضع المؤلفون هذا الكتاب بين يدي القارئ العربي لا سيما المتخصص ويحدوهم الامل بأنه سيلبي حاجاته في هذا المجال، وقد كُتبت موضوعاته بأسلوب واضح ومبسط مدعوماً بأمثلة تطبيقية مراعياً جميع المستويات من الباحثين والمعلمين إلى طلبة الدراسات الاولية والعليا في الجامعات.
ولأجل غظهار الكتاب بالمظهر المناسب لحاجات هؤلاء، وقد شمل الكتاب المفاهيم النظرية والأساليب التطبيقية للقياس والتقويم واهتدى بالبرامج الحاسوبية التي سهَّلت عمليات القياس والتقويم وأفرد لها فصلاً خاصاً يساعد الطلبة على تحليل البيانات ونتائج الإختبارات وتفسيرها، وقد ضم الكتاب ثلاثة أبواب، وهي: الباب الأول: "التقويم"، الباب الثاني: "القياس"، الباب الثالث: "الإحصاء والبرمجيات الحاسوبية".
