وفي الكتاب، يسلط المؤلف الضوء على نشأة الديمقراطية وتطورها وأنواعها، باإضافة إلى عرض لنماذج ديمقراطية من العالم العربي والعالم الغربي بما فيها لبنان وسورية والعراق ومصر ونظرة خاصة للمؤلف في هذه الديمقراطيات يطرح فيها السؤال الأهم: أين الديمقراطية في الواقع السياسي العربي؟
