«ديوان الأسرار والرموز» هو كتاب جمع وتَرْجَمَ فيه عبدُ الوهاب عزام ديوانين من دواوين الشاعر الفيلسوف الكبير محمد إقبال؛ هما «أسرار إثبات الذات»، و«رموز نفي الذات»، وهاتان المنظومتان بالأخص من أعمال إقبال هما اللتان تُبرزان مذهبه وتشرحان فلسفته. وقد نُظِمَت هذه الأبيات بالفارسية وترجمها إلى العربية الدكتور عبد الوهاب عزام ترجمة راقية، راعى فيها النص والمعنى. وقد استغرقت ترجمته لهذا العمل الرائع حوالي ثلاث سنوات ونصف السنة. ولولا صحةُ عزمه، وعِظَمُ رغبته، وإتقانُه للغة الفارسية، ومعرفتُه العميقة لأفكار إقبال؛ لَمَا تيسَّر له ترجمةُ هذا الكتاب، خاصةً وأن إقبال شاعر كبير، يُثري نصَّه بالكثير من المعاني الإنسانية الفياضة.
مدخل الكتاب:
"بيّنت بيانًا شافيًا فلسفة إقبال في كتابي "محمد إقبال، سيرته وفلسفته وشعره" وأجملت آراءه كما بينها في ديوان "الأسرار والرموز" فليرجع إلى الكتاب من يرغب في الاستزادة.
وفي هذا المدخل نبين — في إيجاز — فلسفة إقبال وآراءه التي يستخلصها قارئ "أسرار إثبات الذات ورموز نفي الذات".
أذكر طرَفا مما ثار حول الديوان من جدال، ثم أعرض على القارئ خلاصة المقدمة التي كتبها إقبال باللغة الأردية لكتاب "الأسرار والرموز" ثم حذفها بعد الطبعة الأولى، وأعرض عليه كذلك خلاصة ما كتبه إقبال تبيانًا لمذهبه حينما سأله هذا الأستاذ المستشرق الإنكليزي نكلسون مترجم الأسرار إلى اللغة الإنكليزية"
