وهكذا فقد تم إجراء مسح عام للأعلام الذين لهم إسهام معرفي له طبيعة تاريخية أو صفة جغرافية في منطقة الغرب الإسلامي. حيث تم التعرف بحياة كل شخصية عبر التركيز على ما تميزت به، بعدها تم استعراض الإنتاج الذي أسهمت به مع محاولة إبراز الجوانب المهمة منه دون إهمال إثبات المصادر والمراجع لكل ترجمة، والتي تمكن القارئ انطلاقاً منها وبالرجوع إليها من التوسع في قراءاته والتعمق في الجانب الذي يهمه في الترجمة، وحتى لا يكون العرض نظرياً حرص على تقريب القارئ من واقع التراث بإثبات نص أو نصين لكل ترجمة تمكن القارئ من التعرف على لغة وأسلوب وطريقة تناول تلك الشخصية للأحداث التاريخية أو معالجتها للمسائل الجغرافية.
