أمير المؤمنين، الإمام علي بن أبي طالب هو بطل البيان، وأخطب الناس بعد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وصاحب نهج البلاغة، فلم يدوّن لجميع أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ما دوّن له وحده من الخطب والمواعظ والرسائل والحكم، فمنه تعلم الناس الخطب، وعلى منهجه سار البلغاء، ومن كلامه اقتبس العلماء، وفي هذا الكتاب خطبتان له عليه السلام، وهما الخطة العارية عن الألف، والخطبة الخالية من النقطة، إ، هاتين الخطبتين مظهر من مظاهر عظمة الإمام عليه السلام، فرجل يرتجل على البديهة مثل هذه الخطب التي تتضمن صفوفاً من المواعظ والآداب، وهي بأعلى رتبة من الفصاحة والبلاغة مع استفتائه عليه السلام فيهما من الألف والنقطة وهما محور النطق، وعليهما تدور رص الكلام، فإن غيره يعجز عن الإتيان بحملة من ذلك، فضلاً عن خطبة تامة، وهذه من مميزاته الكثيرة (عليه افضل السلام) وفي هذه الصفحات عرض لهذين الخطبتين مع توضيح كلماتهما.
