الكتابات التي تتناول الفكر السياسي الصهيوني أكثر من أن تحصى إذ بلغ من اهتمام الباحثين والمفكرين بأزمة الشرق الأوسط حد أنهم لم يغفلوا جانباً من الجوانب المتعلقة بتلك الأزمة إلا وتناولوه لكن مؤلف هذا الكتاب عمد إلى فحص وتدقيق الظاهرة ككل من خلال نشأة وحكم تكتل الليكود في إسرائيل وهو في هذا يقدم محاولة لرصد وتفسير نشوء هذا التكتل، وكيفية صعود زعماء مثل بيغن وشاميرن كما يبحث الكيفية التي شق بها هذا الحزب طريقة إلى السلطة.
والكتاب ليس مجرد تحليل سياسي عن هذا الحزب، وإنما يتعدى ذلك إلى البحث في خلفية هذا الحزب التاريخية والإيديولوجية، حيث يعيد القارئ إلى العام 1931 عندما قان فلاديمير جابوتنسكي واتباعه بأول اختراق سياسي في المؤتمر الصهيوني السابع عشر وكيف بادروا إلى إنشاء حركة التصحيح الصهيونية، كما يكشف عن التوجهات التي تحكم السلوك السياسي لقادة الليكود وهو يعرض في كتابه لمحاولات مؤسس حركة التصحيح الصهيونية زئيف فلاديمير جابوتنسكي لشق طريقة والوصول إلى التحكم بمنظمتي بيتار وأرغون زفاي لومي حيث تبدد حلمه بعد ذلك.
ويتطرق لانعقاد المؤتمر العالمي لشبيبة بيتار في كراكو عام 1935، إذ اعتبر ذلك خطوة نواتية من أجل تطوير حركة التصحيح الصهيونية، إذ نشأ بيغن كزعيم ساحر للمتطرفين داخل حركة بيتار وكحامل لواء العمل العسكري فيها. كما يعرض في ثنايا كتابه لمذبحة صبرا وشاتيلا ونتائجها من وجهة نظره، إذ حاول البعض خرق اتفاق إخلاء بيروت من المقاتلين الفلسطينيين، والقيام بالقضاء على ما تبقى من المقاتلين الفلسطينيين بهدف تدمير المخيمات الفلسطينية وترحيل جزء كبير من سكانه إلى خارج لبنان.
