- وعلى كل حال، فالإبريق سيصير فارغاً..
- الإبريق؟ تقول الإبريق؟
ضحكوا على التشبيه، وجنحت بهم خيالاتهم، إلى أفكار شتى. وعلقوا، كل بما يلهمه تفكيره وأوهامه وأحلامه..
وأخفض أبو الشكر صوته، وأدنى رأسه من الجماعة، فأدنت الشلة رؤوسها مثله، والتموا بعضهم على بعض فوق الطاولة المملوءة بكؤوس الشاي وفناجين القهوة، وهمس: - وأنا أيضاً منعني الطبيب من... - الله لا يسود وجوهنا، ولا ينكّس راياتنا!
وتحرك فخري حركة غير عادية لهذا الكلام، فتدحرجت كؤوس الشاي، وانكسرت، وسال ما فيها على الأرض، فلفتوا نحوهم أنظار المقاهيين.. لم يهتموا لما حدث، لأنّ السرور كان أغلب من كل ما يجري.
- يا جماعة، هؤلاء الأطباء.. يحرموننا مباهج العيش؛ اترك الملح، إياك والسكر، لا تدخن، لا تشرب المنبهات.. وأخيراً يحولون بينك وبين زوجتك.. يتدخلون بينكما.. شيء فظيع!
