يحاول المؤلف في هذا الكتاب أن يعرّف المسلم بأمور دينه بأسلوب لطيف يقع في نفس القارئ موضوع القبول والرضى، لأنه يوصله إلى الأحكام الشرعية التي يجهل الكثير عنها من خلال الأسئلة المطروحة من قبل الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم ومن قبل الصحابة رضي الله عنهم ثم الإجابة من قبل كليهما. وجعلها المؤلف منسقة ضمن أبواب المسائل الفقهية من مثل باب الإسلام والإيمان، والعلم والطهارة والصلاة والزكاة والحج والجهاد والنكاح والطلاق، مستشهداً للحكم الشرعي المستنبط من خلال أحاديث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم التي جاءت في تلك المسائل.
هذا الكتاب يشتمل على كتابين:
1-"الرسول يسأل والصحابي يجيب": حوى أسئلة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لصحابته الكرام، وهي وسيلة من وسائل التعليم انتهجها صلى الله عليه وسلم، فكان يسأل أصحابه عن الشيء وهو يعلمه، وإنما يسألهم ليثير فطنتهم ويحرك ذكاءهم، ويرويهم من معين العلم في قالب من المحاورة والمناقشة، فيقرَّ أو يصحح ما أجابوا عنه بما يوافق الشرع الحنيف.
2-"الصحابي يسأل والنبي يجيب": حوى أسئلة الصحابة رضي الله عنهم له صلى الله عليه وسلم فيما كانت يعرض لهم أو يُشكل عليهم، وأجوبة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لهم التي استُفيدَ منها الكثير من الشرائع والأحكام ومعالم الدِّين.
وهذان الكتابان لمؤلفهما الشيخ الواعظ سلمان نصيف الدحدوح حفظه الله، طُبعا منفصلين، ثم رغب بعض المحبين بجمعهما في مجلد واحد، فكانت هذه الطبعة التي بين يديك. راجين من المولى الكريم أن يتقبل منّا، وأن ينفع بها، إنه سميع مجيب.
