نعمة الله بن محمد بن عبد الله الموسوي الجزائري (1050 هـ / 1640 - 1112 هـ / 1701). رجل دين وفقيه ومُحدّث ومُفسّر شيعي. وقد كان أحد كبار رجال الدين الشيعة الإثني عشرية في العراق وإيران في زمان الدولة الصفوية التي تقلّد فيها بعض المناصب القضائية، وقد وُثِقّ الجزائري عند كبار الرجاليين الشيعة كأستاذه المجلسي(2) والحر العاملي(3) ويوسف البحراني.
وُلد سنة 1050 هـ في قرية الصباغية، وهي إحدى قرى قضاء الجزائر والذي يسمى حالياً بقضاء الجبايش، والذي يقع حسب الجغرافيا الحديثة في محافظة ذي قار بجنوب العراق.

يفصل هذا الكتاب أحوال الأنبياء، وما جرى عليهم في سالف الزمان، وهو مرتب على مقدمة وأبواب وفصول وخاتمة، في المقدمة تم تبيان ما يشترك فيه الأنبياء عليهم السلام، وفي عددهم وبيان أولي العزم منهم، والفرق بين النبي والإمام وجملة من أحوالهم وجاء الباب الأول في قصص آدم وحواء وأولادهما، والباب الثاني في قصص النبي إدريس، والثالث في قصص نوح، والرابع في قصص النبي هود، والخامس في قصص النبي صالح وقومه، والسادس في قصص إبراهيم وبعض أحواله، والسابع في قصص لوط وقومه، والثامن في ذي القرنين وعمل السد، والتاسع في قصص يعقوب ويوسف عليهما السلام، والعاشر في قصص أيوب النبي عليه السلام.
وتتابعت الأبواب اللاحقة في قصص شعيب وموسى وهارون وقارون، وفي إسماعيل وإلياس وذي الكفل، ولقمان وداوود وقصص سليمان وأصحاب الرس وحبقوق وزكريا ويحيى عليهم السلام وعيسى وقصص ارميا ودانيال وعزير وبخت نصر وقصص يونس وأصحاب الكهف والرقيم وأصحاب الأخدود وحرقيص عليهم جميعاً أفضل الصلاة والتسليم. وختم الكتاب بما ورد بلفظ الأنبياء والمجوس ونوادر أخبار بني إسرائيل وأحوال بعض الملوك، هذا وقد ذيل الكتاب بتحقيق لطيف هدفه توضيح ما أبهم من عبارات الكتاب وما أشكل كما وسعى المحقق للتقديم للكتاب بنبذة تحدث فيها عن المصنف، نسبه، نشأته، حياته، مشايخه، وأساتذته، أقوال العلماء فيه، مؤلفاته ووفاته.
