يشتمل هذا المعجم على 12000 كلمة جرى انتقاؤها من وجهة نظر الحاجات العلمية وقد روعيت في المفردات الألمانية المكونة من عدة مقاطع ضرورة التأثير على المقطع الصوتي المشدد، أما الكلمات التي يشذ نطقها عن القواعد الأساسية المتعارف عليها فقد حددت طريقة نطقها حسب الطريقة التي وضعتها جمعية النطق الدولية (A.P.I). وكذلك فإن هذا القاموس يحتوي على معلومات واسعة من النحو والصرف. ومن ذلك ذكر الأفعال المساعدة الملائمة، وحروف الجر المناسبة، وحالات الصرف التي تقتضيها الأفعال، وإضافة أرقام تشير إلى الجداول المفصلة المتعلقة بصرف الأسماء وتصريف الأفعال، إلى غير ذلك مما يخرج عن نطاق ما يقدمه عادة قاموس بهذا الحجم من معلومات تساعد على استعمال المفردات وتمكن، بصورة خاصة، الأجانب الذين يستخدمون هذا القاموس من الإفادة منه فائدة أكيدة. أما جداول الإعداد المرفقة فهي تكمل المفردات المرتبة على الطريقة الأبجدية.
