عندما باشر عامر طهبوب كتابة (في حضرة إبراهيم) لم يخطر بباله أن يكتب رواية، لقد نهرَت ذاكرته عقله وقلبه المعلّقين بفلسطين فرأى القرّاء أمام عينيه، وأخذ يقصّ عليهم عبر الورق ما آلت إليه حال (الخليل القديمة) و(القدس العتيقة) من تزوير وطمس للجغرافيا والتاريخ والهويّة.
شخوص الرواية حقيقيّون وبعضهم ما زال على قيد الحياة، لكنّهم يختلطون مع شخوص آخرين من صنع الخيال؛ ويمكنني القول إنّ هذه الرواية (الوثيقة)، الّتي ستكون مرجعاً لدارسي الأنثروبولوجيا، كتبت بفطريّة وصدقٍ تأمّين، بحيث يتسنّى للقارئ أن يرى ويمشي في أزقة الخليل وحارات القدس، في فضاء روائيّ زاخر بالشخوص والأمكنة والأحداث، متنقلاً من زمن إلى زمنن فيشتمّ عبق الأسواق، ويلمس الحجارة العتيقة، ويسمع الأصوات الأصيلة، ويستشعر كم هناك من قداسة وكرامة وجمال في تلك البلاد التي سيبقى جرحها وصمةَ عارٍ في جبين الإنسانيّة إلى أن تعود المفاتيح إلى أبوابها.
