(بديع أن نكون بناة الحياة من الأزل وحتى الأبدية، نحن البناء ونحن البناؤون، نحن الزراع ونحن الحاصدون ومنا الوجود ولنا ومن أجلنا. كنا ولم نزل في رحلتنا المباركة في حدائق الأبدية)
بهذه الكلمات يقدم لنا الكاتب سليمان صالحة فلسفته التي استقت أسسها من المنبع الصافي لمعلمي البشرية الكبار كسيدنا المسيح والرسول الأكرم محمد صلى الله عليه وسلّم وفلاسفة اليونان كسقراط وفيثاغورث وهيراقليطس وحكماء الشرق كبوذا وزرادشت.
وإذا كان الكاتب قد تتلمذ على أيدي فلاسفة الماضي فقد كان له معلم معاصر أشرق بوعيه الكوني في زمننا المضطرب ألا وهو المعلم كمال جنبلاط. يعرفه البعض كسياسي وزعيم وطني لبناني ولكن من يعرفه حقّ المعرفة يعرفه كحكيم كوني يبحر وعيه في بحر بلا حدود لزمان أو مكان.
جاء عنوان الكتاب ما بين العلّة والغاية، أي ما بين البداية والنهاية، ولكن هل هناك بداية ونهاية أم هناك حركة أبديّة بين انقباض وانساط؟ ألم يقل الله في محكم تنزيله (لا تبديل لخلق الله) سورة الروم آية 30.
يؤكد الكاتب أن الفكر هو المرتبط بالعالم المادي وهو بالتالي سبب مصائب الإنسانية وأما الوعي فهو الذي كشف لنا جوهر الوجود واليقينيات الكبرى لهذا العالم.
ألم يقل سيدنا المسيح (إنّ ملكوت الله في أنفسكم أنتم)، وألم يقل النبي الأكرم (من عرف نفسه عرف ربّه) أليست إذا المعرفة الحقيقية موجودة في داخلنا ونصل إليها من خلال التأمّل والعودة إلى الوعي الكوني الموجود في صميمنا؟
