اما أن نجد عملاً ملحمياً يتصف بالحكمة ويكون محوره (الإحباط)من خلال هالة من التفاؤل لا ترى إلا عندما يجبر المرء بسبب الإحباط إلى أن يرفع رأسه ويفتح عينيه ليراها إلى الأفق البعيد – فلم يقع في يدي قبل اليوم عمل من هذا النوع سوى الأبجدية الأولى . هذا ما كتبه الكاتب والمفكر العراقي (عالم سبيط النيلي) عند صدور الطبعة الاولى.
اما الروائي والقاص المتميز وارد بدر السالم فيقول: "وقفت الأبجدية الأولى على إرث باهر من الفنتازيا والخيال... لكنه إرث انبعث من أرضية واقع محدد المظاهر مغيّب عنوة لصالح الرواية وتشكيلاتها المفاجئة في مناخها الذي يبدو لا معقولاً وعبثياً".
ومما قاله الشاعر علي حسن الفواز في الرواية : "تجربة تنفذ الى تقنية بنائية تقدم ثرائها السردي وكأنه موضوع سري يؤسس له حكايته او اسطورته كما انه عمق في الرؤيا يكشف عن واقعة الانسان في لحظة وعي حريته و وجوده بازاء وقائع الظلم و الغياب والقسر و كشف مفارقاتها و دلالاتها في صوغ بانوراما الاحداث و هذا التنافذ بين الوعي و الكشف اعطى هذه الرواية طاقة في مد عناصرها الحكائية الى فضائات متعددة وفي توسيع امكانيات السرد و الانفتاح على افق فاعل تتقارب فيه مستويات الاستعارة و الترميز بما يجعلها تؤلف بناء او تمرينا في السرد تتابع فيه الاصوات و الاحالات و الاشارات بما يجعلها منسجمة".
