القصيدة عند الشاعر أ.د. عبد الله بن أحمد الفيفي تستغرق احتمالات تأويلية متعددة، فهي تتجاوز في ألفاظها الدلالة المعجمية الحرفية وتأخذ مدى واسعاً في الدلالات الرمزية التي لا ينفك الشاعر عن العودة إليها من حين لآخر، وبمعانٍ مختلفة. هنا في "متاهات أو ليس / قيامة المتنبي" يقع القارىء والناقد على شعرية تستدعي التفكيك والتأويل واستدعاء الشفرة والإشارة وأنظمتها العلاماتية واللغوية، التي تؤسس أفكار النص، بقصائد مركبة ذات بناء درامي، أو طابع ملحمي، أو إطار قصصي.
تحت عنوان (ما الشعِّر؟) يقول الشاعر:
أختالُ ملءَ قصائدي، فكأنني، / إذا قلت بيتاً، روح بن زنباعِ ، بعساكري ودساكري مُتمنطقٌ / والناسُ حولي أسهمي وذراعي ، ما الشعرُ إن لم يمنح المجدَ امرءاً / إلا سفينةُ ضائعٍ بشراعِ! ، قلتُ: أما والشعر والرُزئُوا به، / ما الشعر إلا ثورةُ الأرواعِ (...) ".
يضم الكتاب ثلاثين قصيدة في الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى (شعر التفعيلة) جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "صباح الورد" ، "لغة القلوب" ، "كشعرك الطويل" ، "صوت الشهيد" ، "الفراشة" ، "رسولتي" ، "قصيدة فلسطين" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
