يضم هذا المؤّلف خمسة عشر مقالة هي بمثابة كل "ما قاله الكتّاب العراقيون عن كتاب "سلالة الطين/سيرة مأساة"، الذي نشر عام 2004، وكان قد كُتب "بشكل سري في أيام نظام الحكم السابق في العراق، ولم تكن الظروف تسمح بنشره آنذاك"، لقد تطرق كاتبه عطا عبد الوهاب إلى "جوانب إنسانية" في شخصية الأمير عبد الإله، واعتمد "فيما كتبه ليس على ما رواه الآخرون في كتبهم أو أحاديثهم بل على ما شاهده ولامسه بنفسه طيلة سنة ونصف من عمله "سكرتيراً خاصاً في البلاط الملكي العراقي ما بين 1957 و1958 حتى قيام الانقلاب العسكري الدامي يوم 14 تموز/يوليو" من نفس العام.
ومما علّقه الكتّاب، على شخصية الأمير عبد الإله وعلى ما ورد من ذكريات خاصة بمؤلف كتاب "سلالة الطين"، الذي قسمّه إلى عدة أقسام: قسم يتناول سيرة ذاتية للطفولة والصبا. ويقع القسم الثاني في جزأين: يتركز الأول على عمله في الديوان الملكي، بينما يتناول الثاني عمله في قطاع التأمين بين سنتي 1959 و1969. ويتناول القسم الثالث تفاصيل ما سماه بالمحنة الطويلة التي أحدقت به وبأسرته مدة 13 عاماً، ولا يريد أن ينشر شيئاً عنها في الوقت الحاضر. ويضم القسم الرابع مختارات من شعره."
إنه تحليل دقيق لشخصية الأمير عبد الإله وعرض للجوانب الإنسانية في سلوكه، خارج الإطار الرسمي وداخله ورصد لردود أفعاله العفوية تجاه الأشخاص والأحداث اليومية".
هل كان عبد الإله يستحق فعلاً تلك النهاية المأساوية في صباح الرابع عشر من تموز 1958 عندما سحلت جثته في شوارع بغداد ومُثّل بها وشُنّع بأوصالها وعُلّقت في أكثر من مكان بعد أن نالتها السكاكين وقطعتها إرباً إرباً؟ وهل يستحق ذلك الإنسان أن تقطع أعضاؤه ويرسل إبهامه لتعرض على الرئيس جمال عبد الناصر فيشمئز الرجل من منظرها؟"
ستبقى الأجيال القادمة في المستقبل تبحث عن بدائل مخفية لقناعات ترسّخت في الأذهان على امتداد القرن العشرين عن رجال وساسة ربما شوهت سمعتهم ونيل من سلوكهم وتفكيرهم لأسباب سياسية لا تمت للحقيقة التاريخية بطرف".
منذ دوام الرجل في البلاط، قدم معلومات جد مفيدة عن الحالة التي كان عليها العراق سياسيا واقتصادياً واجتماعياً، ووصفاً دقيقاً لبعض الشخصيات المسؤولة التي كانت تحكم في ذلك الوقت".
يعكس مضمون هذا الكتاب معلومات عديدة تبعث على التحليل والتفكير وعلى الرغبة في مواجهة التفاصيل التاريخية، ورؤيتها من زاوية مغايرة ومن منطق ومنطلق مختلفين.
