تاخذنا قصة بالونتي التي طارت إلى عالم الأطفال لتكشف لنا أحد أسرار تلك المخلوقات البريئة مبينة السبب الحقيقي وراء بكاء الشخصية الأساسية الذي يأخذ ظاهرياً شكل الحزن على ضياع البالونات, فنتعرف من خلال الصفحات على التوتر الذي ينتج عن عدم الشعور بالأمان. فبالونات الطفلة ليست مجرد لعبة اختفت بل هي تمثل خوف كل الأطفال من المجهول ومما لا يستطيعون رؤيته. تبكي الطفلة سائلة أمها عن إمكانية رؤيه بالونتها مرة أخرى, وتتمثل لنا ثقة الأطفال البريئة بصحة كل ما تتفوه به الأمهات فتظل الطفلة تنتظر على الشرفة كل يوم لعل وعد أمها يتحقق فتبكي السماء وترى بالونتها مرة أخرى.
لغة القصة الجميلة تجعلنا نعيش حالة الأسى وحالة الدهشة مع الطفلة حين تحزن لضياع بالونتها ونفرح معها برؤية قوس المطر لننتقل إلى أنشودة عن القصة ايقاعها يعطي الحبكة بهجة أكبر. في الطبعة الثانية من هذه القصة أعادت الرسامة ثريا رسم بعض الصفحات لتضع القصة عملاً فنياً يقتبس روحه وخطوطه من عسير وجبالها الخضراء.. المطر.. والألوان.. والسحب.. وقوس قزح.. ووعد الأم المحبة أعطى الطفلة مفهوماً آخر لنظرة عميقة إلى أحداث حياتها المستقبلية..
