تقسم المجموعة إلى قسمين القسم الأول يضم قصص قصيرةن أما القسم الثاني فهو من النوع القصص القصيرة جداً، وبقراءة متأنية لهذه المجموعة، سيلفيها القارىء لا محالة تجربة قصصية غاية في المعنى والأهمية على الرغم من بساطة الأسلوب في عرض الأفكار، من ضرورة قراءة القصص كلها في مستوياتها الدلالية، وفي مكوناتها الداخلية، من أجل القبض على شعرية، وجماليات النص.
تحت عنوان (امرأة الضوء) نقرأ للقاص علوان: في مكان قصي .. وبالصدفة البحتة كانت امرأة الأبنوس تتحرك في المكان، عبر الطاولات المتناثرة كان الناس يرقبون رقصتها، فإذا بها فقط مسؤولة عن إيقاظ النور، تقيد الشموع وتدخل ليلها". من هنا ندرك أن القاص يحاول الإمساك باللحظات العابرة للزمن، ويرويها بصفته مراقباً للحدث وهو بهذا يلتقي مع الحداثة في أكثر تياراتها إتساعاً وعمقاً، وباختصار قصص محمد علوان كتابة خاصة تحتاج إلى قرارات وتفسيرات خاصة.
