يخوض هذا الكتاب مخاضاً جدلياً عسيراً حول النقد الثقافي بمشروعه الأول عند الناقد عبد الله الغذامي الذي استبدل النقد الثقافي بالنقد الأدبي، مفترضاً أن جمال الشعر العربي ليس سوى خدعة ظاهرية براقة تخفي وراءها قبحيات من الأنساق المضمرة، للثقافة العربية.
ولمناقشة هذه المقولة ذي الرؤية الإسقاطية المسبقة، أتى هذا الكتاب ليطرح تصوراً مناقضاً وليرسخ رؤية جمالية للخطاب الثقافي في هذا الشعر بديلاً إجرائياً لذلك النسق الإشكالي.
والكتاب، يستند في رؤيته الجمالية إلى قراءة نقدية أدبية جمالية إنسانية مختلفة للنصوص المستشهد بها في كتاب الغذامي نفسه، معتمداً مبدأ الرأي والرأي الآخر، متأسياً بقول الشافعي، رأيي صواب يحتمل خطأ، ورأي غيري خطأ يحتمل صواباً.
لكن الكتاب حوى موضوعات أخرى تدور كلها في موضوعة الثقافة بصفتها مكوناً معرفياً يرصد حراك الإنسان وفاعليته وإبداعه ودائرة نشاطه المتحققة على الأرض فعلاً مستقراً وأثراً باقياً، مثل: نقد الثقافة وثقافة النقد، وعولمة الثقافة وثقافة العولمة، وأسئلة النقد في عصر العولمة، وثقافة الإختلاف حول الحداثة وما بعدها، وقراءة نصية ثقافية.
