من أوائل من كتب في السيرة النبوية، بعد وفاة النبي، إبن إسحق الذي قال عنه الإمام أحمد بن حنبل إنه كان مدلّساً، وقال عن الإمام مالك إنه دجّال من الدجاجلة، وقال عنه آخرون من أصحاب السنن إنه ليس بالقوي ولا يحتجّ به، وإنه كان يحدّث عن المجهولين أحاديث باطلة، وإنه كذاب وحديثه ليس بحجّة، وكان يكتب عن كل أحد ولا يتورع في ذلك؛ وتم اتهامه كذلك بأنه كان يجلس في آخر المسجد ليس بهدف الصلاة وإنما لمغازلة النساء، فجلده أمير المدينة ونهاه عن الجلوس في ذلك المكان. والحقيقة أن من الأسباب الرئيسة لبلاء المسلمين بعض الكتابات التراثية التي تم تقديسها، وإن من واجبات رجال الدين المخلصين مراجعتها، وتدقيقها، وإعلان براءة الله ورسوله من الكتابات الغثّة فيها، واعتبارها مخالفة للنظام العام ومحظوراً تداولها. لكن الواقع يدل على صعوبة ذلك أو حتى استحالته أمام مختلف المصالح الشخصية للكثير من ولاة الأمر من السلاطين وأتباعهم من أصحاب العمائم واللحى ممن يسمّون بمشايخ الدين.
وخلاصة القول أن من بين أصحاب العقول المغلقة - موضوع هذا الكتاب - مؤمنين بالإسلام قولاً وعملاً، لكنهم يتصرفون بسذاجة في تخزين المعلومات الدينية واجترارها كالببغاوات أو آلات التسجيل لا أكثر؛ وغير مؤمنين بالإسلام قولاً وعملاً، ويتصرفون بسوء نيّة في التخزين والإجترار، أما اللاعب الرئيس بشأن ذلك فهو شيطانٌ أو أكثر من شياطين الإنس والجنّ.
