خرجت في الصباح من الفندق في طريقي إلى المطار. لندن تنظرني لتعهد بي يدا بيد إلى تل أبيب. طلبت من صاحب التكسي أن يأخذني في جولة في شوارع بغداد أجرب نفسي الجديدة قبل أن أصل إلى المطار. أصبحت رجلا آخر. أحتاج إلى وقت طويل لكي أتعرف عليه وأبدأ معه أزمنة جديدة. تاريخ طويل ومعقد سيغطي وجه الأرض وسيتعداها إلى المجرات البعيدة. دخلت في اللعبة بروحي بعد سنوات من دخول جسدي. ما قمت به في بغداد كان طقسا من طقوس الشيطان. من يحتفل بالجنس والدم والعري لن يكون بعيدا عن الشر. لم يعد جسدي ملكا لهم فقط. أصبحت منغمسا في الجحيم, وجزء أساسيا من اللعبة الكبرى التي تدير العالم. اقتربت من آمالي العظام. تصورت ذكرياتي لفة من العقد المتداخلة لا أقدر أن أسل منها الخط المستقيم الذي أوصلني إلى هذه الرفعة أو ذاك الانحدار. هوة لا جاذبية فيها. تأخذك إلى أي اتجاه كأنك في فراغ الكون الذي تسبح فيه أجرام الفضاء التائهة.
أحسست أني اقتربت من الشيطان ولكن لا أعلم متى ابتعدت عنه. ما الذي علي أن اسمي القتل والنساء العاهرات والقرابين الشركية وفض بكارة الصغيرات وتكريس الحياة لخدمة رجل لا أعرفه ولا أدري من أي جنس هو؟ لماذا لا يكون العنكبوت الأسمر هو الشيطان.
صفته لا تبتعد عن الأوصاف التي وصف بها الرب رجل الجحيم المتربص بالأخيار. ينتظر البشر المتضرعين على أبواب المعابد التي شادوها ملاذا وفرارا من غواياته.
