والكتاب قسم من أطروحة الدكتور أحمد حميدان، حول تاريخ الحركة الوطنية والعمالية، ويقدمه في الذكرى الخمسين لتأسيس هذا الصرح الوطني المجيد الذي تمكن من حشد كل الشعب والتغلب على خطر الطائفية، السلاح الخطير الذي أراد الأعداء استخدامه ليتمكنوا من مواصلة اللعب على التعارضات الثانوية لشعب يضرب بنضاله عميقاً في التاريخ منذ السومرين إلى الفتح الإسلامي فالقرامطة، فالنضال المتواصل من أجل الحريات الديمقراطية.
