وقد اقتفى الأستاذ الدكتور محمد عبد اللطيف الفرفور آثار السلف الصالح، في حُسْن التفكير، واتباع جادة العلم، والبحث عن الحقيقة، فراح يتتبع الفكر الإسلامي، مُنقبا عن ذخائر-ومعظمه درر ولآلئ-وكان الصيد وافراً، والحصيلة نافعة، إذ كان هذا الكتاب رحلة ممتعة هادفة، في أبوابه الثلاثة:
-الأسس والقواعد للفكر الإسلامي الشامخ.
-الأمة الإسلامية ومشكلات العصر.
-دراسات فكرية هادفة.
والهدف من وراء ذلك هو إصلاح الأمة أفراداً وجماعات، وذلك بتحرير العقل والفكر، ثم القلب والروح، ثم التحرر من الأهواء والشهوات، وعندها يصلح الإنسان؛ إذ يتبين تعاليم الرحمن، ويكون الحلُّ الأمثل من جواهر الفكر الإسلامي.
