إبراهيم يحيى الشهابي (مواليد 1933 بـلوبية في فلسطين)، هو كاتب فلسطيني تلقى تعليمه في فلسطين ثم في سوريا. حصل على ليسانس في الآداب قسم اللغة الإنجليزية وآدابها من جامعة دمشق عام 1959، وعلى ليسانس في الترجمة، وعلى دكتوراه في العلاقات الدولية السياسية من كاليفورنيا بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية عام 1984 . عمل محاضرًا في جامعة دمشق منذ عام 1983، ومدير عام للمجلس الوطني الفلسطيني منذ عام 1983. عضو جمعية الترجمة باتحاد الكتاب العرب. نشر عددا من القصص القصيرة، والمقالات، والدراسات المتنوعة في مجلات سورية وعربية مختلفة.

هذا الكتاب: يقدم هذا العمل المرجعي وصفاً تفصيلياً و موثقاً لقرية لوبية التي هجر أهلها عام 1948, ثم دمرها الاحتلال الصهيوني و محى معالمها, و زور تاريخها و جغرافيتها, و أطلق اسماء ذات أصول عبرية على القرية, حلت محل اسمائها التاريخية الأصلية, و ذلك امعاناً في إزالة الصبغة العربية لا عن التراب الفلسطيني فحسب, بل عن خرائط فلسطين و ذاكرة العرب و العالم أيضاً. و هذا الكتاب صدر عن مشروع القرى الفلسطينية المدمرة التابع لجامعة بيرزيت في الحلقة 17 من سلسلة القرى الفلسطينية المدمرة. و يسجل الكتاب في ذاكرة الجيل الذي ولد خارج فلسطين المعلومات النادرة و الحية عن لوبية و التي يذكرها ذلك الجيل من السكان الذي عاش في تلك القرية و يعرف بشكل مباشر الحياة اليومية فيها و تفاصيل الجغرافية المكانية فيها. و في ضوء المخاطر السياسية و الثقافية الجديدة تصبح عملية تسجيل الشهادات للمعاصرين للقرى الفلسطينية قبل تدميرها مهمة وطنية عليا تقع على عاتق كل مثقف لتبق لنا على مر السنين وثيقة لمآساة عاشها أهلنا و نعاني من نتائجها منذ ذلك التاريخ حتى الآن نتيجة للمسلسل الإغتصابي الاستيطاني التهويدي. و كمعلم في مسيرة شعبنا نحو استعادة تاريخه و أرضه و حلمه.
