إن أفضل وظيفة يؤديها الخيال هو تحقيقه لشعرية النص عند إيلدا موسى مزرعاني. فهي في (هواجس عاشقة) معينة جداً بهذه الوظيفة، لا بل هي المهمة التي اسندتها إلى الخيال لتطرز كينونتها كأنثى تزوغ عن جنون العالم ولتدمج العقل بحدس اللحظة، وخلق ذاتها المترعة بالجمال والعاطفة والحلم. في "حواس عاشقة" تسلك الشاعرة مزرعاني مسلك الشعر النثري الذي يفتح أبواب الذاكرة والمخيلة على العالم كما على لواعج الروح الإنسانية ولعل كتابتها قصيدة النثر بهذه الروح التواقة إلى الحب والحياة يجعلها أكثر تعبيراً عن أبناء جيلها من الشعراء الطامحين إلى دخول معترك الشعر من أبوابه الواسعة.
من عوالم قصيدتها الموسومة بـ (حواس عاشقة) نقرأ ثمة بوح ومناجاة ترسلها إلى الحبيب: "أطلب أن تتمدَد في حواسي/ أن تأخذ شكل القلب/ وتغري فيَ كل ما فيك/ أن تعيد إبداع الجسد/ وارتعاش الروح/ على أمل الولادة/ من بخور صوتك/ وبصيرة العين/ وطعم البحر/ ومن صرخة الحلم/ حين تنسل من ماء بين عينيك/ ناي حواسي/ أنا حاستك العاشرة(...)".
يضم الكتاب (31) قصيدة نثرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "يا طائري"، "غزال عينيك"، "حاسة أنت"، "لن أعترف"، "صلاة نساء"، لعبة الحبَ"، "قد أعدك"، "شبَه لي" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
