يتحدر سليمان فرنجية من إحدى كبريات عائلات شمال لينان. خاض حياة سياسية طويلة وشاقّة قادته، رغم كل الصعوبات، إلى تبوّؤ المنصب الأعلى في البلاد. سار بوطنه نحو القمم، نحو عصر ذهبي جديد سيعرف فيه لبنان ازدهاراً إقتصادياً، إجتماعياً وثقافياً لا مثيل له. عمليّة نهوض مبهرة لم ترق للكثير من الدول التي عملت على عرقلة المسيرة البنّاءة للرئيس فرنجية بجميع الوسائل: إبتزاز سياسي، حروب، ونزاعات. وصل الأمر بالحاسدين إلى إصابته في أعزّ ما يملك: اغتيال إبنه طوني وأفراد أسرته. حتى عندها، لم يتفوّه سوى بعبارة واحدة: "فداءً للبنان".
منذ اتفاق القاهرة الذي أطلق على أثره شعاره الشهير: "وطني دائماً على حق"، وحتى مؤتمري جنيف ولوزان، حرص سليمان فرنجية على التصرّف كقائد على رأس دولة حق وقانون دافع عنهما حتى الرمق الأخير.
في هذا الكتاب، تستعيد إبنة سليمان فرنجية شذرات من حياة والدها رئيساً، وأباً، وزوجاً محباً.
