هذه الدراسة "الحرب النفسية ضد الإسلام في عهد الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم في مكة" تتعرض لدراسة الحرب النفسية، لما لها من أهمية في العصر الحديث، حيث أصبح هذا اللون من الحرب يستخدم بدلاً من حرب المدافع والقنابل والبنادق، لإحداث التأثير المطلوب، وهو ما يطلق عليه البعض اسم الحرب الباردة تمييزاً لها عن الحرب الساخنة، التي تتدفق فيها الدماء.
وقد تركزت هذه الدراسة على العهد المكي من حياة الرسول بعد البعثة لإلقاء الضوء على هذه الفترة المهمة من الدعوة الإسلامية، والتي أرسيت خلالها الأسس والمبادئ والدعائم للدين الإسلامي. ويرجع سبب تحديد البحث في هذه الفترة إلى عاملين أساسيين، أولاً: أهمية هذه الفترة من حياة الدعوة الإسلامية، ثانياً: إن هذه الفترة من حياة الدعوة لم تأخذ حقها من إلقاء الأضواء عليها كما لقيت فترة العهد المدني في اهتمام المؤرخين والعلماء الذين تناولوها بالدراسة والتحليل.
لذلك آثر المؤلف "عبد الوهاب كحيل" أن يلقي الأضواء في كتابه هذا على هذه الفترة من حياة الرسول ومن حياة الدعوة، متعرضاً لوسائل وأساليب الحرب النفسية التي وجهها أعداء الإسلام ضد الدعوة وضد رسولها وأتباعه الذين آمنوا به، مع بيان لأهم الوسائل والأساليب التي سلكها الرسول والمسلمون لحماية هذه الدعوة والدفاع عنها ومقاومة تلك الحرب النفسية، والقيام بعملية الدعوة أيضاً وفي نفس الوقت، مع تحليل لهذه الوسائل والأساليب من الزاوية الإعلامية ومقارنتها بالوسائل والأساليب المستخدمة في الحرب النفسية في العصر الحديث.
وقد استرشد الباحث في معالجة هذه الفترة من حياة الدعوة من الزاوية الإعلامية بالنماذج التي وضعت للاتصال في العصر الحديث من حيث وجود مرسل ورسالة ومستقبل، حيث عرض بذلك للحرب النفسية التي وجهت للدعوة (كرسالة)، والحرب النفسية التي وجهت للرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم (كمرسل) والحرب النفسية التي وجهت للصحابة كجمهور أو كمستقبل لهذه الرسالة، وما استخدمه أعداء الإسلام، كمحاولات للتشويش على هذه الدعوة في الوسائل وأساليب لمنع إتمام عملية الاتصال الإعلامي.
