نظمت ورشة الموارد العربية "ورادا بانن" (منظمة رعاية الطفل السويدية) لقاءً تشاورياً إقليمياً مصفراً في أيار مايو 1994 في آيانابا قبرص. وقد جمع هذا اللقاء منسقي منظمات أهلية -غير حكومية- يعملون في مجال حقوق الطفل وجاء المشاركون من مصر والأردن ولبنان وفلسطين واليمن. كان اللقاء بمثابة متابعة لنتائج لحفلة دراسية إقليمية نظمها "ورشة الموارد العربية" ورادا بارنن بعنوان حقوق الطفل في العالم العربي: الواقع والاحتياجات والتحديات".
وقد كانت أهداف اللقاء التشاوري تنحصر بـ: مراجعة اللقاء الإقليمي لسنة 1994 إعداد اللقاء الإقليمي لسنة 1995، تبادل خطط العمل والخبرات القومية والإقليمية، البحث في فكرة "الخطاب العربي"، الذي يتناول مفهوم الحقوق وصلتها بتراث المنطقة والواقع الاجتماعي فيها، بحث فكرة إصدار نشرة إخبارية تطويرها.
وفر اللقاء التشاوري للمنظمات الأهلية مكاناً لتبادل المعلومات حول تطبيق اتفاقية حقوق الطفل الصادر عن الأمم المتحدة والخبرات في البرامج والنشاطات والائتلافيات وتقديم التقارير. وهذا الكتاب الذي بين يدينا يتضمن وقائع هذا اللقاء الذي انعقد لمراجعة وتخطيط البرنامج الإقليمي ولنقاش وجهة النظر العربية حول حقوق الطفل.
