ولد طاهر رياض طاهر الجقة في عمان عام 1956، حصل على شهادة الثانوية العامة عام 1968، أسس إلى جانب القاص إلياس فركوع دار منارات للنشر والتوزيع وتوليا إدارتها خلال السنوات 1980-1990، ومنذ عام 1990 وهو متفرغ للكتابة الإبداعية، وهو عضو رابطة الكتاب الأردنيين، واتحاد الكتاب العرب، ترجمت قصائده للإنجليزية ضمن كتاب أنطولوجيا الأدب الفلسطيني الحديث (تحرير د.سلمى الخضراء الجيوسي، وإلى الفرنسية ضمن كتاب مختارات شعرية من بلاد الشام الصادر عن مركز الدراسات والأبحاث عن الشرق الأوسط التابع للمركز الثقافي الفرنسي بعمَّان، وله مشاركاته في العديد من المهرجان الشعرية العربية والدولية.

... إحتفاءً من عمّان بمبدعيها، وإبرازاً للمسيرة الأدبيّة الأردنيّة عبر تاريخها الحديث في حقول الإبداع المتعدّدة، من (رواية وقصّة قصيرة وشعر ونقد أدبي ودراسات وترجمات) جاءت هذه المختارات لعدد من المبدعين الأردنيّين، تأكيداً على حرص أمانة عمّان الكبرى، وإهتمامها اليوميّ بالثقافة والمثقّف الأردنيّ.
المختارات الإبداعيّة الأردنيّة هي إحدى مفردات البرنامج الثقافيّ الخاصّ بأمانة عمّان الكبرى ضمن إحتفالها بإعلان عمّان عاصمة للثقافة العربيّة 2002، ولعلّ هذه المختارات هي شاهد على إنحيازها للإبداع والمبدعين، وسعيها لإمتاع القارئ بنماذج متميّزة من إبداعنا، وإستمراراً لمسيرتنا الجادّة بيد مبدعينا وروّادنا ومفكّرينا.
