إن إحياء تراث أهل البيت عليهما السلام والتعرّف على تاريخ مواليدهم، ووفياتهم، وأمّهاتهم، وأزواجهم، ومعرفة أولادهم، ضرورة ملحّة؛ وهذا التراث القيّم لا يحتاج إلاّ إلى تحقيق من منابعه الأصليّة الصافية حتّى تصل إلى القراء أنيقة جذابة.
لهذا عمد المحقق إلى تحقيق كتاب العلامة التستري معتمداً على نسخة المؤلف وهي بخطه والمؤرخة سنة 1349هـ.ق وشرع بالعمل بها على المصادر المذكورة في المتن، ومقابلتها وقام بتخريجها، وأشار إلى بعض الإختلافات الواردة؛ وقام أيضاً بشرح بعض الألفاظ الصعبة نسبياً، وأثبت ترجمة لبعض الأعلام من كتب تراجم الرجال.
