لم تكن المخابرات الصهيونية بعيدة عن إدراك الأهمية الكبرى للمنطقة العربية، وخصوصاً أنها تستند إلى تاريخ عريق في المكر والخداع والخبث ولا بد من الطبيعي أن تجير هذا التاريخ لخدمة الصهيونية العالمية أولاً والقوى الغربية الاستعمارية ثانياً.
ولقد أدركت الحركة الصهيونية منذ تأسيسها أهمية وجود جهاز استخباري يمثل الخط الدفاعي الأول لأمنها، كما يمثل في كثير من الأحيان خطأ هجومياً ضد كل القوى التي تراها الحركة الصهيونية عقبة في طريقها.
ولقد لعبت بريطانيا الدور الأساسي في خلق التنين الصهيوني المتمثل في جهاز الموساد "المخابرات الإسرائيلية" في العالم عبر أحد جنزالاتها الكبار "وينغيت". إلا أن الولايات المتحدة استغلت تفوقها بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية وورثت "التركة" البريطانية الكبيرة في هذا المضمار، وتبنت التنين الصهيوني دون أن يقطع هذا الأخير خيوط علاقته مع جهاز الاستخبارات البريطانية المعروف بـ"الإنتليجانس سرفيس".
والدكتور صالح زهر الدين في كتاب "المنطقة العربية في ملف المخابرات الصهيونية" يسلط الأضواء بدقة وموضوعية على مسألة خطيرة تعتبر من أهم المسائل التي تواجه الوطن العربي، منطلقاً من نشأة الحركة الصهيونية وفكرها وممارستها، مروراً بالتنسيق الصهيوني-البريطاني، وانتهاء بالتنسيق الصهيوني-الأميركي، دون إغفال التحالفات الأخرى مع أجهزة المخابرات الغربية.
وما يتضمنه هذا الكتاب من حقائق موثقة لم تكن معروفة من قبل يجعل منه وثيقة مهمة في المكتبة العربية.
