تتجه دراسات فلسفة التربية – ومنها فلسفة التربية الإسلامية- إلى أمهات القضايا الكلّية، للبحث في الأبعاد التربوية لها بوصف ذلك بمثابة المرتكز الأساس لبحث المفردات الجزئية المتضمنة فيها، تطبيقاً للمنهج الفلسفي عليها، من حيث سماته المتميّزة بالحيرة والتساؤل والدهشة وطرح التساؤلات الكليّة فيها. وإذا كان من خصوصية للدراسات في حقل التربية الإسلامية فهي أن تلك التساؤلات الكلية تجد جواباً -في الغالب- يشفي الغليل، وذلك حين يعتمد الباحث فيها المصدرين الأساسيين: الكتاب الكريم (القرآن) وصحيح السنّة المطهرة، بالدرجة الأولى، بما يشملانه من اعتماد على طريقتي الحس والعقل بطبيعة المنهج الإسلامي القويم، هذا مع عدم إغفال المصادر الثانوية الأخرى، مستنداً في ذلك إلى أصول المنهج الإسلامي في الاستدلال، من حيث إدراك القواعد الأصولية المرعيّة في ذلك، وهو ما يعني ضرورة إحاطة الباحث في مجال فلسفة التربية الإسلامية بثلاثة مجالات أساسية هي: التأصيل الشرعي الجيّد، والتعمّق في التخصص التربوي، والحصول على قدر كافٍ نظرياً وتطبيقيا- وهو الأهم- من حيث الثقافة الفلسفية المتميّزة.
