عن غربة الشعراء العراقيين يكتب صبيح جابر في كتابه الموسوم بـ"الرواد يدخلون عالم الأبدية من بوابة المنفى" فمثلما خرج عظماء الأدب الروسي في القرن التاسع عشر من معطف "غوغول" خرج رواد القصيدة الكلاسيكية الجديدة في الشعر العراقي الحديث من بين صنوف أدباء العراق وشعرائه الأصليين وكان في مقدمة هؤلاء الشعراء، الزهاوي والرصافي والكاظمي والشبيبي، الذين مثلوا مرحلة أدبية واحدة، وسخروا أشعارهم لخدمة قضيتين أساسيتين، هما القضية السياسية والقضية الاجتماعية، وهما برأي المؤلف قضيتان حداثيتان تجاوز بهما شعراء العراق مرحلة الرومانسية الأوروبية، ليصلوا بالقصيدة العربية إلى المرحلة الواقعية... وذلك انسجاماً مع مقولة بودلير: الشعر أكثر الأشياء واقعية، وهو الشيء الذي لا تكتمل حقيقيته إلا في العالم الآخر.
وعلى هذا، يعرض مؤلف الكتاب في هذا العمل نصوص بعض الشعراء بدءاً من امرئ القيس والشنفري مروراً بمالك بن الريب، وانتهاءً بشعراء العراق من أبناء موجة النزوح الأول وخاصة في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين، فاستوى الكتاب في أربعة فصول تضمنت دراسات في شعرية "الجواهري... الموقف الملتزم وتداعيات الغربة"، و"السياب يتقدم جيل الريادة إلى المنفى"، "الغربة وانهيار النهايات في حياة السياب وشعره"، و"معاناة المنفيين في شعر عبد الوهاب البياتي". تلك هي العناوين التي تشكل موضوعات هذا الكتاب مع التعريف بكل شاعر وحياته ومواقفه والأسباب الداعية إلى هجرته، وعالمه الشعري وخاصة "عالم المنفى".
