جديد هذا الكتاب "السيرة الخلدونية" أنه يتعامل مع "ابن خلدون" بشيء كبير من الدرامية المؤثرة، وكأننا أمام شريط سينمائي، تتابع المشاهد المكثفة (سرد المعلومات) وذات الإيقاع السريع خصوصاً إزاء سرد ما حصل لإبن خلدون من إخفاقات شخصية وسياسية وإجتماعية، إن لجهة إصطراعه مع نفسه، حول مسألة التفرّغ للعلم والمعرفة، وإضطراره، في المقابل، للتكيّف العصيب مع ظروف العمل وطلب الرزق، علاوة على فقدانه عائلته إثر غرق السفينة التي اقلّتهم في طريقها البحري إليه، خصوصاً وأنه اضطر، بعد هذه الحادثة الفجائعية، إلى أن ينعزل ثلاث سنوات بعد عزله من القضاء.
الهدف من هذا الكتاب هو تقريب صورة ابن خلدون من الذين لا يعرفونه من أجيالنا العربية الجديدة، أو الذين يعرفونه، ولا يرون فيه هذا الجانب المأساوي الحزين في مسيرة فيلسوف عربي فذ.
