وقد حفزني على نقل هذه الأبحاث الى اللغة العربية هذا الصمت شبه المطلق الذي يلف ظاهرة السحر الخفي عموماً – في المغرب كما في باقي الأقطار العربية – على مستوى البحث والتحليل كما على مستوى الترجمة، وهو صمت يأتي ليعضد في نهاية المطاف الرقابتين الدينية والحداثة المفروضتين على الظاهرة المعينة. فالحداثة تختزنها الى خرافات وأوهام، والدين يختزلها الى ردة وكفر...
إذا كان السحر يشهد إنتشاراً واسعاً، إن على مستوى الاعتقاد أو على مستوى الممارسة، رغم إدانة الدين وسخرية الحداثة منه، فذلك يعود الى كون الساحر يقدم خدمات معينة لزبنائه، الذين لا يستشيرونه مزاحاً ولا لعباً، وإنما لحل مشاكل هامة ربما كان السحر هو الملاذ الأخير فيها..
يحيل السحر باعتباره أحد مفاهيم الخطاب الأنثروبولوجي المعاصر على مجموعة من الممارسات والتمثلات التي نادرا ما يتم تحديدها. وقد تأسس استعمال هذا المصطلح، من باب التعريف، على نوع من الموضعة الخلافية حيث تمت مقارنة السحر بمجموعتين من الممارسات هما العلم والديـن . ففي هذه الموضعة يبدو وكأنه من الثابت أن هذه المصطلحات الثلاثة [العلم، الدين، والسحر] تشكل حقلا دلاليا يقع السحر فيه بين العلم و الدين، بين مصطلحين قطبيين يؤخذ تقابلهما على أنه تقابـل واضح وجلي.
