في قصائد قاسم حداد، عامة، وداخل هذه المختارات بصفة خاصة؛ هناك مفردة أساسية تتكرر، ومن كثرة تكرارها يشغلك التفكير فيها، وتمنحها مساحة ما من تأملاتك وأنت تقرأ القصائد، هذه المفردة هي مفردة "النص".
تتأرجح مفردة "النص" بين كونها تعني النص الشعري، أو كونها تشير للنص بمفهومه الشامل، كنص الحياة نفسها.
يأخذ "النص" أحياناً مفهوم الحد الأقصى الذي يجب ان يبلغه الشاعر أو الإنسان، المكان الذي يوثق التجربة الخاصة للشاعر، والمبرهن على إمتلاكه لأدوات وأخلاقيات إنتسابه لعالم الشعر، والحياة من بعده.
عندما يكون هناك إلحاح على ذكر تلك المفردة "النص"، داخل نصوص شعرية، كالتي بين أيدينا، يعني هذا تأصيلاً ما لمفهوم هذا "النص".
داخل القصائد يظل هذا "النص" المراد تأصيله يعمل كالشبح، او يصبح ذلك "النص الآخر"، المرجع، الضابط.
"النص" ليس هو القصيدة بالمعنى الحرفي، ربما يتشابه معها في الشكل وفي حساسية الصنع، ولكنه يختلف في المعنى، فــ "النص" هو النوع الأدبي مضاف إليه التاريخ وكل تراكمات وقوانين وأخلاق هذا النوع الأدبي، الذي هنا هو الشعر.
