وأما الشاعر العربي الكبير فهو الذي اجتمعت لديه خبرة العصور الذهبية للشعر العربي: الجاهلي، والإسلامي الأول (الراشدي)، والإسلامي الثاني (الأموي)، والإسلامي الثالث (العباسي)؛ فشكل من عصارتها الأبيات الشوارد والعيون الخوالد، واجتمعت عنده العبقريتان: عبقرية النفس وعبقرية الفن؛ فملأ بهما الدنيا وشغل الناس، هو أبو الطيب المتنبي أمثل من يمثل الشعرية العربية القديمة حين تبلغ ذروتها من القوة الباعثة على الإعجاب، ومن السحر الذي يملأ النفس طرباً ونشوة، ومن الإشعاع الفني الذي يجتذب القلوب فتهوي إليه، ويهب الأبيات والقصائد روعة الفن وعنفوان الحياة فتشرد في المكان والزمان على حدّ سواء.
