وبالرجوع إلى الأدبيات التربوية سيجد المتابع أن ثمة تعريفات متعددة لمفهوم الإشراف التربوي لم يتفق فيها علماء التربية على تعريف محدد للإشراف التربوي، ويعود ذلك إلى تباين إتجاهاتهم ومفاهيمهم بحسب نظرتهم إليه، وفهمهم له، وإلمامهم بجوانبه، وتحليلهم لإطاره ومضمونه.
تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحسين التعليم والتعلم من خلال رعاية وتوجيه وتنشيط النمو المستمر لكل من المتعلم والمعلم والمشرف وكل من له أثر في تحسين العملية التعليمية التعلمية، كما تقوم على إحترام رأي كل من المعلمين والمتعلمين والقائمين على عملية الإشراف التربوي والمؤثرين فيه، وتسعى هذه العملية إلى تهيئة فرص النمو والتشجيع على الإبتكار والإبداع.
