في هذا الكتاب نفحات عطرة في ياسمين دمشق وسهولها الغناء، يكتبها "حسن محمود موسى النميري" لتكون شاهداً على أقدم مدينة في التاريخ سكتها البشر قبل 6000 عام من ميلاد السيد المسيح، حيث تقع في السها الجنوبي الشرقي لسلسلة جبال لبنان الشرقية على الحافة القريبة للبادية السورية التي تمتد من أطرافها إلى شبه الجزيرة العربية وبلاد ما بين النهرين.
يشتمل الكتاب على دراسة هامة تحيط بكل معالم دمشق يتبع فيها المؤلف الترتيب الألفبائي في تعريف القارئ بهذه المدينة، ويبدأ بأول من بناها، وسبب تسميتها، وأبوابها، وأنهارها، ورجالاتها الذين تركوا بصمات في التاريخ لا تنسى وهم علماء دين وصحابة وقادة وشعراء وأدباء وغيرهم كثير، ثم يعرج الكاتب إلى المناطق المشهورة وكيف تغنى الشعراء بطبيعتها، أما الروايات الدينية حول المقدسات فتدلنا على قبور الأولياء والأنبياء الذين احتضنتهم دمشق ولا تزال شاهد على عصر حافل بالمعارك والانتصارات؛ ثم يأخذنا الكاتب في رحلة ممتعة صوب قصورها ومن بناها وأسباب التسمية؛ أما المنزل الدمشقي القديم فكان يسمى (الدار الدمشقية) وهو يعود للقرن السادس عشر الميلادي تقريباً، وفيه نتلمس ذلك الدفء العائلي والقيم التي يتفق حولها الأنباء والآباء والأجداد في الموافقة على السكن في منزل واحد كبير بكثير من المحبة والتواد والتراحم والطاعة، ومن أمثلته دار خالد العظم في حي ساروجة ودار عنبر في حي القيمرية.
