يحوي هذا الكتاب عشرة فصول تتناول بإيجاز حياة وشعر عشرة من أهم شعراء الفصحى الإماراتيين الراحلين الذين أبدعوا قصائدهم على امتداد القرن العشرين، مع الملاحظة أن بعضهم كتب أيضاً الشعر النبطي، ويتناول الكتاب الشعراء بتسلسلهم حسب تاريخ الميلاد، بدءاً بأولهم ولادة وهو الشاعر مبارك بن حمد العقيلي (1875–1954) وانتهاءً بآخرهم ولادة وهو الشاعر حمد خليفة بوشهاب (1936–2002) ، وبعض هؤلاء الشعراء ممن عرفهم المؤلف شخصياً. كما يحوي الكتاب قصيدة مختارة لكل شاعر كنموذج لشعره.
