إن ما أجمع عليه العلماء المسلمين هو أن الأسماء والصفات التي يجوز قبولها هي ما وصف الله بها نفسه في آياته الكريمة في محكم تنزيله، وما أتى على لسان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم. وفي هذا الكتاب "قطف الثمر في بيان عقيدة أهل الأثر" ذكر لكل تلك الأمور، حيث قدم المؤلف في كتابه هذا أدلة وشواهد على كل مسألة من المسائل التي تناولها كما ردّ على عدد من الفرق التي سماها بالخوارج من منزلة ومرجعة وقدرية ورافضة، وخوارج ذاكراً بعض خصائص النبي الكريم صلى الله عليه سلم وسلامة قلوب أهل السنة والجماعة، مشيراً إلى وجوب محبة أهل البيت والصحابة، منبهاً إلى عدم جواز الطعن في خلافه أحد من الخلفاء الراشدين الأربعة رضي الله عنهم جميعا.
وقد جاء الكتاب محققاً حيث عمل المحقق على تخريج الآيات والأحاديث النبوية، واقفاً على بعض ما ورد في الكتاب من آراء رادها إلى مظانها مترجماً لأعلام الكتاب كلهم ترجمات تفي بالفرص من التعريف بهم، كما قدم ترجمة مطولة للمؤلف مع فهرسة لمؤلفاته المطبوعة أو تلك التي لم تزل مخطوطة.
