لا ينجو المرءة إلا بالمواظبة على الطاعات والتحلي بالأخلاق والفضائل الموصلة إلى السعادة الأبدية ولذا وجب على كل عاقل ذي لب أن يجتهد في اكتساب فضائل الأخلاق التي هي الأوساط المثبتة من صاحب الشريعة صلى الله عليه وسلم والاجتناب عن رذائلها التي هي الأطراف وفي كتاب (النجاة من الذنوب) يوضح المؤلف حسين الشاكري ما يمكن به اجتناب الذنوب والمعاصي كبيرة كانت أو صغيرة.
وقد عرض في الفصل الأول للنفس وقواها الأربع ويبين أن من جاهد نفسه وحاسبها بات يوم القيامة مرفوع مشرق الوجه مطمئن النفس. أما الفصل الثاني فقد بين فيه فضائل الأخلاق ورذائلها وبحث في الفصل الثالث في (كبائر الذنوب) وهي التي فسرها الإمام الصادق عليه السلام وقد حث الله سبحانه وتعالى على الاجتناب عنها لغرض ميل رضاه وتحقيق السعادة الأبدية.
وإتماما للفائدة أورد في الفصل الرابع مقتطفات من وصايا وحكم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب وإلى الصحابي الجليل عبد الله بن مسعود وأبي ذر الغفاري. وبين في الفصل الخامس الفصول المهمة التي تحصل بها النجاة. وأوقف الفصل السادس على ذكر نوادر عن الأمل والتسويف والرجاء، في حين بين في الفصل السابع فضائل التوبة والاستغفار.
