قال العالم الإيطاليّ باولو إيميليو بيكوريلا: إنّ الآثار الموجودة في الجزيرة السوريّة أغنى من بترولها وأكثر مردوداً، وهي أكثر منطقة واعدة في العالم، فتحت كلّ تلّة - من تلال الحسكة التي تتجاوز الألف - قصة تتحدّث عن إرث حضاري وأثري زاخر باللقى على مرّ الزمان.
يبدو لي أنّ بيكوريلا - مشكوراً - أعطانا نصف الحقيقة، وفاته أن يقول: إنّ تحت كلّ تلّة من تلال الحسكة قصّة عذاب مطويّة في دفاتر النسيان، نعم، إستطاع بيكوريلا أن يكتشف أهميّة ثروات الحسكة الزراعيّة والبتروليّة، لكنّه لم يكتشف حياة الإنسان الجزراويّ التي تطفو فوق تلك الثروات.
إنّ هذه الرواية "تلّ الذنوب" تسلّط الضوء على جزء من الحياة الإجتماعيّة في ريف الحسكة، تحفر في الواقع الإجتماعي منذ النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين، أي منذ إستقلال سورية سنة 1946 إلى مطلع القرن الحادي والعشرين.
أبطال هذه الرواية من الشباب الجزراويّ والشاميّ الذين يبحثون عن الحبّ والذات خارج بقاعهم الجغرافيّة ليصطدموا مباشرةً بالواقع الذي لا يقبل التغيير بسهولة؛ ما يدفعهم للعودة إلى بيوتهم بعد إكتشافهم أنّ حياتهم عبارة عن جُزر إجتماعيّة مغلقة.
إنّ الدموع التي ذرفتها في سرد أحداث "تلّ الذنوب" أسخى من الحبر الذي طُبعت به.
