أنَّ الزيادة في المجال النحوي تختلف تماماً عن الزيادة في المجال الصرفي، وقد اقتضت خطة البحث أن يكون مقسَّماً على فصول أربعة وتمهيد.
حاول هذا البحث أنْ يعرض في التمهيد لجوانب ظاهرة الزيادة عند القدماء والمصطلحات الدالّة عليها عندهم، ومظاهرها على مستوى المفردات والتراكيب، والغاية المستفادة من الزيادة، والفائدة المرجوة منها، محاولاً الرد على من أنكر الزيادة ممّن يتحرج من المفسرين وإثبات وقوعها في الفعل والإسم والحرف والجملة.
وتناول الفصل الأوّل دراسة ظاهرة الزيادة في الأسماء وأثبتنا وقوعها في بعض الأسماء ممّا يُحدّده السياق فعرضت لهذه الزيادة في بعض الأسماء ومنها (مَنْ وإذ وإذن ومثل وأسماء الإشارة وضمير الفصل وكلمة وجه وأفعل التفصيل والإسم المكرّر والإسم في باب الإختصاص والإسم المضاف وألفاظ حيّ ومقام واسم ممّا بابه إضافة الإسم إلى المسمّى).
وعالج الفصل الثاني ظاهرة الزيادة في الأفعال ومنها زيادة كان وأخواتها وكذلك إلغاء ظنَّ وأخواتها وبعض الأفعال الأخرى، وفي الفصل الثالث تناولتُ زيادة الحروف، وهي الزيادة الّتي انصرفت لها معظم جهود النحّاة والدارسين القدامى والمحدثين.
وفي الفصل الرابع عرضت لظاهرة الزيادة في الجملة وذلك عن طريق اللغة الأدبية متمثِّلة في الآيات الكريمة والشعر والنثر، ولهذا كانت مصادرنا تضمّ زيادة على كتب النحو كتب البلاغة والأدب والنقد، وأفادتنا كثيراً المراجع والدراسات الحديثة.
