هو الشيخ محمد حسن بن الشيخ محمد رضا بن الشيخ عبد الحسين بن الشيخ باقر بن الشيخ محمد حسن آل ياسين الخزرجي الكاظمي.
ولادته ونشأته
ولد في مدينة النجف الاشرف عام 1931، وكان والده آية الله الشيخ محمد رضا آل ياسين المتوفى سنة 1370هـ -1951م، أكبر مرجع في زمانه ترجع إليه الشيعة الإمامية في مختلف البلاد الإسلامية.

لقد أولى علماء السلف كافة حقول المعرفة ما تستحقه من عناية وجهد، ولا سيما الجزء المعني بالنبات والزراعة وما يتعلق بهما من مسائل وشؤون، وفي هذا المعجم يقف الشيخ محمد حسن آل ياسين على مدى اهتمام علماءنا السابقون بمسألة "النبات" و "الزراعة" خاصة – وهما محور عمل هذا المعجم – ليكون ذلك مثالاً على مدى اهتمامهم في سائر موضوعات العلوم ومسائلها المختلفة.
يقول المؤلف: وإذا كان عملي المعجمي هذا مقصوراً على الجانب اللغوي وحده، فقد كان في مؤلفات السلف ما عُني بهذا الجانب بالخصوص، وفيها ما شمل غير ذلك من الفوائد، وفيها ما كان خاصاً بالجانب العملي من الموضوع وهو المعبّر عنه بـ "علم الفلاحة" و "الأدوية المفردة".
وفي هذا العمل يصنف المؤلف عمله في ثلاث مجموعات: ذكر المجموعة الأولى: المؤلفات المعنيّة بالنبات "من المنظور اللغوي" ، وذكر في المجموعة الثانية" الفصول الخاصة بالنبات" في المجموعات اللغوية المبوبة حسب الموضوعات" وفي المجموعة الثالثة والأخيرة: المؤلفات المعنيّة بعلم الفلاحة وبالحشائش والأدوية النباتية.
من الكتب التي يرد ذكرها في هذا الكتاب: كتاب النخلة لأبي عمرو إسحاق بن مرار الشيباني، كتاب الزرع لأبي عبيدة معمر بن المثنى، كتاب النبات والشجر للأصمعي وعناوين أخرى ذات صلة.
