"لأني حينما أبحرت في عينك كان الحزن موالي، وكان الجرح في أعماق أعماقي ينز دماً ويروي ذلّ مأساتي، لأن الخيبة السوداء كانت كل ما جمّعت، قبص الريح كان حصاد ماضينا، تكومنا على قش الحصير نلوب بالحسرة، وفوق الموقد الناري قدرٌ للحصى والماء، وقاسية يثوب الجوع خالية روابينا، فبات الحزن فوق شفاهنا نغماً نغنيه، نجوس العمر يا ويلاه من تيه إلى تيه، لأني كلما أبحرت في عينيك كان الحزن موّالي، ترين الحب في عيني غير الحب، رحيباً يرفض البسمات، قلبي غارقاً في الجب، وكنت على جدار الليل مصلوباً، لأن الحرف مثلي كان مكلولاً بلا شفتين، وكان السوط مرفوعاً ولم أهتف. خرست وكان في الأعماق توق الروح للكملة، يعذبني ولكن لم أقل حرفين لأني كنت في الزحمة، غريباً ضائع الخطوات منسياً، وظل العار يتبعني ولم أعرف سوى حزني، رقيقاً يحمل المأساة يرويها لخلاني".
محمد القيسي وتجربة شعرية لم يكن الشعر فيها في يوم ما ترفاً أو لعباً بالكلمات، كان يأتيه في البدء على غفلة، فيؤرق روحه ويملؤها وحشة وهماً، ثم فيما بعد وحينما ازداد به الوعي، وتشعبت به الحياة، وتعرف إلى تضاريس الجسد الذي يعاني، الجسد العربي، صار أداته الوحيدة في مواجهة مناخ القسوة والظلام، وغياب العدالة هكذا وصل الشعر عند محمد القيسي إلى سبيله الواضح في تجربته كانسان وكشاعر، وهو كان ومازال يرى أن الشعب والفنون عموماً، يمكن لها أن تلعب دوراً مهماً في إزاحة هذا القلق الذي يسكنه، وفيما تعكسه في الآخرين من أحاسيس ووعي معرفي، ومن شحنة للطاقات الكامنة في الناس وإيقاظ لكل ما هو دفين وكامن في الذات، ويجوز القول أن هذه التجربة في هذه الأعمال الشعرية اختزنت في معانيها وكلماتها عذابات وهواجس ومعاناة فلسطيني بدءاً من الطرد الأول فتجربة المخيم حتى ضفاف تونس بكل دلالاتها مروراً بتفاصيل حياة المنفى في كل تصاعدها وانكسارها.
