استكمالا لكتاب المشكلات السمعية يأتي الكتاب الحالي ليبحث الاضطرابات التواصلية والتي تضم النطق والصوت واللغة والطلاقة الكلامية وإن كان البعض يعتبر أن ما سبق هو اللغة والصحيح هو اضطرابات التواصل على اعتبار أن اللغة ومشكلاتها جزء من اضطرابات التواصل.
وبالرغم من المفهوم الخاطئ أن هنالك علاقة بين اضطراب التواصل والإعاقة السمعية فإن معاناة المعوق سمعية التواصلية ناتجة عن المشكلات في جهازه السمعي وليس في جهاز النطق ومن هنا يأتي الكتاب الحالي ليضيف كتابة جديدة لمعالجة مفهوم التواصل واضطراباته وعملية تشخيص هذه الاضطرابات وطرق التدريب المعالجتها. وبعد عملية التشخيص يعالج الكتاب الحالي أساليب وطرق التدريب والعلاج وبعض الأجهزة المستخدمة في العلاج.
وهذا الكتاب أيضا يعد كتابة ارشادية لجميع المهتمين في التربية الخاصة وخاصة طلبة اضطرابات التواصل ليساعدهم في التعرف على اضطرابات التواصل وكيفية التشخيص والبرامج العلاجية. ولقد كانت الخبرات المؤلف في تدريس هذه المادة وطرق تشخيصها وعلاجها الأثر الكبير في إغناء مادة الكتاب والاكتفاء بالمعلومات العملية التي يمكن استخدامها وليس المواد النظرية، كما كان لآراء الزملاء والأخوة العاملين في المجال الأثر الكبير في إثراء المادة ولذلك فإنني أتقدم بالشكر للزملاء في مجال الإعاقة السمعية واضطرابات التواصل على ملاحظاتهم وأفكارهم، وأخص بالشكر أخي الأستاذ علي عبيد العنزي مدير مركز خدمات التربية الخاصة لمنطقة تبوك – المملكة العربية السعودية.
