يعد سعدي الشيرازي (-692/ 1293) أشعر شعراء الفارسية أو أحد الثلاثة (أو الخمسة) الكبار من شعراء الفرس، طلب العلم في مدرستي النظامية والمستنصرية ببغداد، وكتب كتابيه المشهورين "بوستان" و"جولستان" وأحرز بهما شهرة عالمية. وقد نظم بعض الأشعار باللغة العربية. وظلت هذه الأشعار مهملة لا يلتفت إليها، لكثرة ما شابها من تصحيف وتحريف، وقد توقف عندها الدكتور عبد الوهاب عزام رحمه الله وكان في نيته أن ينشرها محققة، لكن المنية اخترمته، قبل أن يحقق تلك الأمنية، واليوم استطاع الدكتور جعفر مؤيد الشيرازي أن يحققها ويحررها ويصحح ما فيها من أخطاء. ويزفها إلى قراء العربية مزودة بتعليقات مفيدة.
