إن النصوص التوراتية والإنجيلية والقرآنية أنتج بعض أتباعها نظريات في التطرف والكراهية أشعلت حروبا طاحنة حصدت أرواح البشر، والإشكال الأعمق هو أن جميع الأديان تدعى أنها موجهة لجميع البشر في كل الأمكنة والأزمنة.
لا نريد تقديم قراءة طائفية ولكن نريد قراءة إنسانية للدين، قراءة جديدة للنص الديني تستجيب لمصلحة هذا الإنسان وتستحضر روح ومقاصد الدين والأديان في عمومها.
وقمنا بدراسة البنية التركيبية للعهد القديم والروايات المختلفة لمضامينه وقضاياه، مبرزين نظرية المصادر داخل العهد القديم انطلاقا من الدراسات الغربية، مسلطين الضوء على أهم القضايا التي تناولها النقاد منذ الإرهاصات الأول لنظرية المصادر إلى تشكلها في إطار المضامين الوثائقية، والتي شكلت مصادر النص التوراتي.
كما حاولنا إعطاء أهم ترجمات العهد القديم، موضحين الاختلافات الموجودة فيما بينها، هذا بالإضافة إلى تقسيمات العهد القديم حسب الرؤية اليهودية، كما أشرنا إلى موقف القرآن الكريم من العهد القديم الذي نحسبه أول رائد لنقد نصوص العهد القديم.
