"معجم المؤلفين" هو كتاب عن المؤلفين لا لهم، يكتب عنهم، شهادة لهم عند عارفيهم، وتعريفاً بهم عند من لم يعرفوهم، وهو مفيد جداً: 1-يعرف الكتاب بشخصية المؤلف، وباتجاهاته الفكرية والأدبية واللغوية والسياسية كي يكون القارئ على بينة من هذا المؤلف، 2-أن المؤلفين، قلّما تبتسم لهم الحياة من الناحية المادية، لأن شقٍّ القلم ضيق، ولا يخرج الرزق منه إلا نذيراً. وهذا المعجم يحاول أن يؤاسي وأن يعوّض المؤلفين عن هذا الحرمان، 3-يلاحظ ندرة القراء، وندرة من يشترون الكتاب، ولعل هذا المعجم، هو دعاية تحرك الكتاب على رفوف المكتبات، 4-قد يكون الباحث في حاجة إلى مراجع في موضوع لا يعلم أنه موجود في المكتبات، فهذا المعجم دليله، فيؤمن خدمة للمؤلف وللناشر وللقارئ على السواء. وأما الذين كتبت عنهم، فقد تم الاقتصار فيه على التعريف بهم وبمؤلفاتهم، دون التوسع في الشرح الذي يسهب في سيرة حياتهم، إلا أن ذلك لا يعني أن يبخس أحداً حقه. وقد بلغ عدد المؤلفين الذين تحدث عنهم هذا المعجم ما زاد على السبعمائة دون تجاوز حيز الشوف والمتنين وقضاء عاليه، على أمل أن ينهض بعض من أصحاب القلم لتغطية باقي المناطق اللبنانية.
