ابن العديم (588 - 660 هـ = 1192 - 1262 م)
عمر بن أحمد بن هبة الله بن أبي جرادة العقيلي، كمال الدين ابن العديم: مؤرخ، محدث، من الكتاب.
ولد بحلب، ورحل إلى دمشق وفلسطين والحجاز والعراق، وتوفي بالقاهرة.
من كتبه «بغية الطلب في تاريخ حلب - خ» كبير جدا، اختصره في كتاب آخر سماه «زبدة الحلب في تاريخ حلب - ط» المجلد الأول منه، و «سوق الفاضل - خ» رأيت منه مجلدين في مكتبة عارف حكمت بالمدينة، و «الدراري في الذراري - ط» و «وصف الطيب - خ» رسالة، و «الأخبار المستفادة في ذكر بني جرادة» و «دفع الظلم والتجري عن أبي العلاء المعري - ط» ما وجد منه، و «التذكرة - خ» أجزاء منها.
وله شعر حسن .

بين يدينا كتاب "الوُصْلَة إلى الحبيب في وصف الطِّيبات والطِّيب" لمؤلفه ابن العديم الحلبي 558- 660هـ، وقد قام بتحقيقه الأستاذتان الباحثتان سليمى محجوب ودرية خطيب، وقد كان عملهما شاقاً وتطلب منهما جهوداً كبيرة.
وكتاب "الوُصْلَة" هو واحد من الكتب التراثية الهامة يبحث في الطب، والصناعة الدوائية والغذائية والعطورية، ويتحدث عن الأطعمة والأغذية وطرق صناعتها وحفظها وفوائدها الصحية، كما يتحدث عن تركيب بعض الأدوية واستطباباتها وفوائدها، وعن صناعة العطور والصابون وتنقية المياه وتقطيرها.
ولقد قدمت لهذا الكتاب الأستاذة سليمى محجوب بحثاً تاريخياً مستفيضاً تناولت فيه تاريخ الأطعمة عند العرب خلال العصور المختلفة منذ الجاهلية حتى العصر الأيوبي الذي هو عصر ابن العديم، واستعرضت في بحثها أطعمة العرب في جاهليتهم وتطورها خلال العصور اللاحقة، وما أخذه العرب من الأقوام التي دخلت الإسلام من أطعمة مختلفة بقي بعضها يحمل اسمه الأعجمي وبعضها عُرِّب، وتحدثت عن آداب الطعام عند العرب وما يؤخذ على الآكل من عيوب، كل ذلك بأسلوب أدبي جمع بين الشعر والقصة والخبر والتاريخ ووثقّت بحثها بالمصادر الكثيرة التي اعتمدت عليها في هذا الموضوع الواسع.
